Chicago was jumping with R's fans as we gathered for the England - USA match at Soldiers Field on May 28th. We met at the Garrett Ripley's Pub, along with a huge group organised by BritsInAmerica.com. After hours of chatting, and singing, and games with some brilliant prizes (just ask Richard about the one he won), we boarded the five coaches and rode off to the match. The people of Chicago had never seen the likes of it, five coaches of singing fans, hanging flags in the windows, and making quite a spectacle. Every available space in the stadium was draped with thousands of flag's, and it seemed there were 10 English fans for every American fan. England won, not as handily as most would have expected, but it was a depleted squad. All in all, a great weekend. I met and chatted with so many fine people, even some who were not R's fans ;-). Huge thanks to Brendan and Ray from BritsInAmerica.com for all their work to organise the event.
